A Founder’s Touch: Creating Bomboniere For My Girls
There are certain moments in life that call for something truly special – something thoughtful, lasting, and filled with meaning. For me, as both the Founder of Sugared Almond Boutique – Australia’s leading destination for sugared almonds – and a mother, my daughters’ double Communion and Confirmation was one of those moments. When it came to planning their celebration, creating the bomboniere for my girls was never going to be just a detail. They were going to have meaning.
Choosing The Perfect Bomboniere For My Girls
Whenever there’s a special milestone to celebrate, my girls and I make it a “mummy and daughters” tradition to plan all the details together. So for their celebration the girls chose the colour scheme, picking tones they loved and that felt right for their special day.
I’ve always believed that bomboniere should be more than just a keepsake – they should have a purpose. We chose deliciously scented candles from Candleliciousbyr that guests could appreciate and use. My girls chose the candle scent vanilla caramel – something they both loved, but also knew guests would enjoy in their own homes. We paired them with stunning preserved florals from The Art of Nature Floral Studio that remain beautiful long after the celebration. Because that’s always my initial question when designing bomboniere: Will people actually use this? Is it practical?
The Final Touch – Sugared Almonds
Of course, no traditional celebration is complete without sugared almonds. Also known as jordan almonds or candied almonds, they carry deep symbolism even for a Communion or Confirmation. Five specific blessings for the child or person being celebrated: health, wealth, happiness, fertility, and long life. Including our delicious flavoured sugared almonds in the bomboniere was a beautiful way to honour tradition while still creating something modern and unique.
To complement the celebration’s theme, we included our sage green hazelnut chocolate balls and 4 Shades of Pink sugared almonds. The girls also picked their favourite white flavoured almonds – white pistachio and fruits of the forest. Beautifully presented in our slimline pouches.

For me, this celebration was about blending tradition with intention. It was about involving my daughters in the process, teaching them the meaning behind what we were creating, and showing them that even the smallest details – like a beautifully designed bomboniere – can leave a lasting impression.
